                 illiam. Shakespeare was born in  1564,
           Win Stratford-upon-Avon, 111  England.
           Nobody is sure of the day when he was born,
           but we know the year.
           He became an actor  and moved to London. He
           wrote plays for the theatre, and he  wrote poetry.
           He soon became one of the most famous
           writers in England - and also in the world. You
           can read his plays in many languages and can
           go  to see his plays in  most  countries.
           Shakespeare wrote many plays - 37, and
           perhaps more. These include  The Te mp est,
           Macbeth, Romeo and  Juliet, King  Lear, and Julius
           Caesar. Ham.let is one of h_is most famous plays.
